Breastfeeding Support Consultation
Support to live your breastfeeding journey with greater confidence.
The early days of breastfeeding can bring many questions, doubts or difficulties.
Every situation is unique and deserves support adapted to your baby’s needs, to your family reality and to your breastfeeding plan.
Breastfeeding support consultations give you personalised guidance to better understand what is happening, identify the adjustments open to you and move forward with peace of mind, with reliable bearings suited to your situation.
This consultation can help you:
- Better understand your baby’s needs and how breastfeeding works
- Work through the difficulties met when getting breastfeeding started
- Identify the adjustments available in case of pain, discomfort or latch difficulties
- Be supported through questions around your baby’s weight gain or feeding rhythm
- Better understand specific situations (lactation drop, engorgement, forceful let-down, persistent difficulties…)
- Think through how your breastfeeding will evolve (mixed feeding, exclusive pumping, gradual weaning, going back to work…)
- Benefit from support adapted to your family situation and to your life as an expat
Personalised support
Every consultation includes:
- Time to talk, to understand your situation and your needs

Support that does not stop at the consultation
At Renésens, we know that breastfeeding questions evolve over the days and weeks. That is why support does not stop at the consultation.
Whenever you need to, you can get back in touch to share how things have changed, ask a question or simply be reassured during this period of adjustment.
Because being supported also means knowing there is someone you can count on when questions come up.
Support grounded in up-to-date practice
Consultations are led by Charline Gervaise, child health assistant, breastfeeding facilitator, and currently training towards the international IBCLC certification (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant).

FAQ
What is the difference between a prenatal breastfeeding consultation and a breastfeeding support consultation?
The prenatal breastfeeding consultation takes place during pregnancy, to better understand how breastfeeding works, prepare your plan and approach the first days with your baby calmly.
The breastfeeding support consultation comes after the birth, when you need support with a question, a difficulty or a change in your breastfeeding journey.
Can I get support even if I have not attended a Prep’Class?
Yes. Breastfeeding support consultations are entirely independent of the Prep’Classes.
If you have attended the Breastfeeding Foundations Prep’Class, the consultation lets you go further, with one-to-one support adapted to your situation.
Are the consultations suitable for co-parents?
Yes, the co-parent is fully invited to take part.
Understanding what is at stake with breastfeeding helps each of you find your place and build a team around your baby.
Do the consultations replace medical follow-up?
No. The consultations offered by Renésens complement the follow-up provided by the healthcare professionals of your perinatal journey (midwife, doctor, paediatrician…).
The aim is to inform, guide and support you through your breastfeeding experience, and to refer you to the right professionals whenever that is needed.
Are breastfeeding consultations reimbursed?
Some complementary health insurers (mutuelles) cover part of the cost of breastfeeding consultations. We recommend contacting your own insurer directly to find out the terms that apply to your situation.
