Coming home from the maternity ward marks the beginning of a new stage. Between discovering your baby, daily care, family organisation and the many adjustments of the first weeks, it is normal to have questions and to need time to gain confidence.

This consultation gives you personalised time to take stock of daily life with your baby, answer your questions and support you through this transition into your new family life.

This consultation can help you:

  • Gain confidence in the everyday care and handling of your baby
  • Go back over advice or practices covered during your maternity stay
  • Better understand your newborn’s needs and their first rhythms
  • Adapt your family organisation to this new stage of life
  • Answer your questions about the first weeks with your baby
  • Revisit your birth experience, if you feel the need to talk about it

This consultation complements the follow-up provided by the professionals of your perinatal journey (midwife, doctor, paediatrician, paediatric nurse…). It offers dedicated time for the questions of daily life with your baby, for understanding their needs and for building confidence as new parents.

When a situation calls for specific care, you will naturally be referred to the most suitable healthcare professional.

When should I book this consultation?

You can book this consultation as soon as you come home from the maternity ward, and at any point during the first weeks after the birth.

Does this consultation replace a visit from a midwife or the PMI (maternal and child health service)?

No. It complements your medical follow-up by supporting you with the practical side of daily life with your baby.

Can I book this consultation even if I have not attended the Prep’Classes?

Yes. This consultation is open to every family, whether or not they have taken the Renésens Prep’Classes.
