Renésens works in French and in English with maternity units, healthcare facilities and health professionals who want to better understand the needs of international families, make their journey easier and develop suitable solutions during pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period.

Interventions can answer a one-off need, such as running a workshop in English, or form part of a broader approach to improving the experience of international patients.

Renésens works with facilities that want to step back from the experience currently offered to expat parents-to-be and new parents, and identify the most relevant ways to improve it.

The approach is built in partnership with the teams of the facility, starting from their reality, from the existing resources and from the needs observed on the ground.

Depending on the project, it can combine:

  • a review of the existing journey;

  • an analysis of the available data on international patients;

  • conversations with the professionals concerned;

  • interviews or surveys with families;

  • identifying the main points of friction;

  • recommendations and the design of a suitable journey;

  • creating or adapting resources;

  • raising awareness among the teams;

  • then evaluating the solutions put in place.

Measurement can, in particular, compare the experience of families before and after the solutions are in place: understanding of the journey, access to information, the feeling of being supported, overall satisfaction, and feedback from the teams.

Prep’Classes

Helping expat parents-to-be understand what lies ahead.

Prep’Classes are preparation classes in English designed specifically for international families expecting a baby in France.

They give practical, accessible bearings on subjects where language, differences between systems or the absence of a support network can raise a great many questions.

Three themes are currently offered:

  • Preparing for your maternity stay

    Understanding the birth pathway and the maternity stay in France, so you arrive better prepared and know what to expect.

  • Breastfeeding Foundations

    Getting the essential foundations to prepare your breastfeeding plans and better understand the first days.

  • Bringing Baby Home

    Anticipating the return home and the first weeks with your baby: care, organisation, bearings and resources.

Prep’Classes can be organised as one-off sessions or built directly into the preparation programme offered by a partner maternity unit or facility.

Better information for families, better tools for teams.

Depending on the needs identified, Renésens can also develop tools that extend the support beyond the sessions themselves.

  • Bilingual resources

    Guides, fact sheets, checklists, welcome packs or digital content can be designed or adapted to help English-speaking families understand their journey and find their bearings more easily.

    These resources can cover:

    • the maternity journey;

    • preparing for the stay;

    • coming home;

    • the resources available after the birth;

    • information specific to the facility.

    The aim is not to replace the existing medical information, but to make it more accessible and easier to understand for an international audience.

  • Team awareness

    Renésens can also offer discussions, workshops or sessions with professionals around the realities international families face:

    • language barriers;

    • losing your bearings;

    • isolation and distance from your support network;

    • understanding the system;

    • access to the right resources;

    • communicating with families whose references are different.

    These sessions are tailored to the needs identified with the facility and complement the expertise of the healthcare teams.
